By downloading, installing, or using MIRA (Malicious Intent Reporting App), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our app.

App Purpose and Use

MIRA is designed as a crime prevention tool that allows citizens to anonymously report suspicious activities. The app is intended for:

  • Reporting suspicious or potentially criminal activities
  • Preventing crime through early intervention
  • Creating safer communities in South Africa
  • Providing anonymous channels for citizen reporting

User Responsibilities

As a MIRA user, you agree to:

  • Use the app only for its intended purpose
  • Submit truthful and accurate reports to the best of your knowledge
  • Not submit false, misleading, or malicious reports
  • Not use the app for harassment, defamation, or illegal purposes
  • Respect the privacy and safety of others

Prohibited Activities

You are strictly prohibited from:

  • Submitting false reports or hoaxes
  • Using the app to harass, threaten, or intimidate others
  • Attempting to identify other users or reporters
  • Reverse engineering or attempting to compromise app security
  • Using the app for any illegal or unauthorized purposes
  • Impersonating others or submitting reports on behalf of others without consent

Anonymous Reporting

MIRA maintains your anonymity throughout the reporting process. However, please understand that:

  • Your location is captured only at the moment of report submission for response coordination
  • We do not collect personal identifying information
  • Report content may be shared with authorized response teams
  • In cases of false reporting or misuse, legal action may be taken (though your identity remains protected by our system)

Data and Privacy

Our data collection practices are governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points include:

  • We collect minimal data necessary for response coordination
  • Your personal information is not collected or stored
  • Report content is retained only as long as necessary for response
  • Location data is deleted after 24 hours

Service Availability

MIRA strives to maintain service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to:

  • Temporarily suspend service for maintenance or updates
  • Modify or discontinue features with notice
  • Limit service in areas without adequate response coverage

Limitation of Liability

MIRA is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for:

  • Response times or outcomes of reported incidents
  • Damages arising from service interruptions
  • Consequences of actions taken by response teams
  • Loss of data or report content

Legal Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable South African laws and regulations when using MIRA. This includes laws related to:

  • False reporting and misuse of emergency services
  • Defamation and harassment
  • Privacy and data protection
  • Telecommunications regulations

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to MIRA for users who violate these terms, engage in prohibited activities, or misuse the service.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app and on our website with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of modified terms.
